  • If annuals or perennials are looking a bit scraggly, cut them back by about one-half. If the plant is 12 inches tall, cut back to six inches. Petunias (Petunia), million bells (Calibachoa), black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia) and coneflowers (Echinacea) are some examples of plants that benefit from a mid-season cutback.
  • If there are no water restrictions in your community, give these plants a deep watering. If there are water restrictions, follow what is advised for your area. As little as one-half to one cup of water delivered at the base of small to medium-size plants can help.
  • Replenish Preen Garden Weed Preventer or Preen Vegetable Garden Weed Preventer as needed to keep weeds from sprouting.
