The most effective use of Preen Garden Weed Preventer Plus Fertilizer with mulch varies depending
on the situation.
- If you are top dressing 1 to 2 inches of mulch over existing
mulch, apply Preen Garden Weed Preventer Plus Fertilizer before
you add the new mulch.
- If you are mulching 2 to 3 inches for the first time over bare
soil, it is preferable to apply Preen Garden Weed Preventer Plus
Fertilizer to the soil first. If weeds appear, it is likely that
there were weed seeds in the mulch. In this case, remove these
existing weeds, apply Preen Garden Weed Preventer Plus Fertilizer,
and water or rake it into the top layer of mulch.
- If you have already mulched, Preen Garden Weed Preventer Plus Fertilizer will still be effective
if applied on top of the mulch. Simply sprinkle Preen Garden Weed Preventer Plus Fertilizer
on the mulch and then water or lightly rake it into the top layer.
