A weed in the pea family with an upright growth habit, reaching 5 to 6 feet tall. Leaves are divided into three small, oblong leaflets. Short, stiff thorns on leaves and stem. Deep, woody taproot. Drought tolerant. Mature seeds remain viable in the soil for more than 20 years.
