A bunchgrass that grows in clumps that stand 2 to 3 feet tall. Seedhead is a panicle, 2 to 8 inches long with one-sided spikelets. Stems are deep blue-green. Leaf blades are long and ½ inch wide, folded when immature. Prominent white midrib on under side.
