Low, mat-forming plant with succulent stems and fleshy, paddle-shaped leaves. Stems are often tinged maroon. Tiny, yellow flowers bloom 4 weeks after emerging as a seedling. It self-pollinates, reproducing from seed. The plant can also reproduce from its taproot or fragments of leaves or stems and spreads from roots that generate at the nodes.
